Queen Margaret College (QMC) is Wellington’s leading independent school for young women. We provide a world class education for girls from Years 1-13, a boarding facility onsite and a co-educational Pre-School, with dual pathways through NCEA and the International Baccalaureate programme.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are currently looking for an experienced Head of Boarding to nurture and inspire the boarding residents of Queen Margaret House. This is a varied and dynamic role responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive home-away-from-home that celebrates all cultures and for providing strong leadership to our caring team of staff. You will be responsible for all aspects of the operational management of the boarding house ensuring boarding is following our established policies and procedures, and for maintaining communication and relationships with parents and our wider school community.

This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week with days and rosters to be negotiated with the successful candidate. Onsite accommodation is available and we are looking for the role to commence on 22 July 2024.

To be successful in this role you will be someone who thrives in a busy environment where no two days are the same. You may already be in a boarding leadership role and seeking the next step in your career, or you may be a Dean or Head of Department looking to develop your leadership career.

Additionally, you will have:

Experience living and/or working in a communal environment

A genuine interest in the holistic care of young people

Demonstrated experience in leading teams

Exceptional organisational, communication and relationship management skills

An understanding of and commitment to using restorative practices

The ability to remain calm and make rational decisions under pressure

Superior use of Microsoft technologies will be a given as is your ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in dealing with sensitive and private information.
